The Wantage and Grove District Arts Guild (WAG) invites members of local cultural groups to meet with us every second Saturday of the month to discuss how the guild can help to support your group directly. WAG has been formed out of the WACC (Wantage Arts Community Centre) campaign. While the result of the St Mary’s campaign was disappointing we have learned a great deal about lobbying and are more convinced than ever from talking with local groups that there is a need for our vibrant cultural community to be helped, recognised and supported. One key piece of feedback we received from several people in positions of influence was that our chances of success would have been far greater if there had been a single point of contact. As we look to the future, with new housing developments promised and facilities becoming scarcer, we want to turn our experience to positive use. The aims of WAG are therefore: TO SHARE INFORMATION (such as about venues, fund-raising and publicity) and - TO BE A CENTRAL VOICE for the cultural community to influence the provision of facilities.
If you agree that there is a need and you would like your group to play a greater part in the cultural voice of the area, pop along to the museum any time between 10.30am and 12.30pm on the second Saturday of any month and talk to us over a cup of tea or coffee ... If you would like further information before popping along, contact: \n
